Mary Lou Parker

Artistic Director
Artistic Director for the Mack Avenue Dance Company, Mary Lou has taught, choreographed and performed for theater, television and various companies and schools. In addition to her work at MADC, Mary Lou has taught and choreographed for the American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive Program in Detroit. She has studied in New York City with some of the best instructors in the business; however, her traditional jazz training with Gus Giordano and the Hubbard Street Dancers in Chicago has given her the strong technical base that has shaped the way she approaches jazz dance. Ms. Parker is certified in Zena Rommett Floor- Barre Technique ®.

Cori Vokal Callahan

Owner, Director of Elite Dance Program, and Dance Instructor: Early Dance Division, Musical Theatre, Jazz & Tap

Cori’s passion for dance started at a young age. This passion for dance led her to discover all talents in performance; dancing, singing and acting.

Cori’s professional training began at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She attended as a dance major and performed with Jazz Dance Theatre. In 1997, she continued on to become a Radio City Rockette for seven years. Returning back to Michigan, Cori performed at the Motor City and MGM Casinos. She has been an active member with the Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA for over twelve years and has acted in numerous commercials both regionally and nationally.

Cori has been teaching and choreographing for over 15 years. She has choreographed numerous productions for Grosse Pointe Public Schools. Her choreography has won numerous awards for originality and entertainment. She is happy to be entering her seventh season with Mack Avenue Dance Center.

Stephanie plansker

Director of Ballet Program and Dance Instructor: Ballet, Pointe, Modern

Stephanie, a licentiate member of the Cecchetti Council of America, holds a B.A. in English and Dance from the University of North Texas. She is a member of the Executive Board of the Cecchetti Council of America, a national organization, which trains examines and offers certification for teachers and students in classical ballet. She is also a member of the Summer School Committee of the CCA and serves as secretary for the organization.

Stephanie has performed with many modern and ballet companies in Texas and has also performed in many industrials. She now focuses on teaching and sharing her love of dance to the upcoming generation. She is a frequent guest teacher for student workshops and intensives, sharing her love of Pilates, ballet, lyrical, and modern. She has successfully presented students and teachers for certification in the Cecchetti Method. Many of Stephanie’s former students can be found performing and teaching throughout the world.

Grady Callahan

Dance Instructor: Contemporary, Hip Hop

Grady Callahan is obtaining his BFA in Dance with a Choreography Concentration at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.  Grady has studied various forms of dance at Mack Avenue Dance Center under the direction of Mary Lou Parker.  He has trained with James Vu Anh Pham, Paul Vickers, Breanna O’Mara of Pina Bausch, Joshua Pelatzky, Catherine Coury & Mario Bermudez Gil of MarCat Dance.

 He has been the scholarship recipient for the Cecchetti Summer Men’s Program as well as Complexions Summer Intensive at Wayne State University.  Grady has studied at the University of Michigan’s Summer MPulse Dance Intensive, Joffrey’s Pre-Professional Jazz and Contemporary Summer Intensive in NYC, Pace University Dance Intensive in NYC, and Marymount Manhattan Summer Intensive.

Lisa Garcia

Dance Instructor: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary

Lisa Garcia, a lifelong dancer with an unyielding passion for the art form, has been teaching dance for over 14 years. She has also performed with the Full Circle Dance Company at Henry Ford College and showcased her talent at the American College Dance Festival and the Oakland Dance Festival. Holding a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University’s Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, Lisa’s performances, awards, and choreography experience attest to her expertise. Committed to growth, she annually attends workshops such as the Motor City Tap Fest and Dance Teacher Summit. Through her journey, Lisa inspires others to pursue their dreams and find joy in the transformative power of dance.

Nicole Gerkey

Nicole Gerkey earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance with a Minor in Theatre from Wayne State University. Throughout her time in university she performed various modern and contemporary works, as well as a variety of theatrical productions, ranging from musicals to Shakespeare. Currently, Nicole is in her third season as a company member of ConteXture dance Detroit. She most recently completed her second season as a judge for CRU Dance. Nicole has been a dance teacher for the last six years; Her teaching pedagogies involve the combination of strength training and dance techniques to give her students practical tools to promote longevity, sustainability, and confidence in their dance careers.
